Our history

History & growth

We are at the bleeding edge of UI trends, but still provide backwards compatibility to business critical applications in both our free and commercial products. We have an unwavering commitment to provide developers high quality tools that deliver an outstanding user experience. This has and will continue to set us apart from the competition.

2001 - 2002

We released the first open source version of Vaadin Framework that simplified developers' lives.

2005 - 2008

The first Java UI tool to adapt AJAX to 100% and after that took a central role in Google Web Toolkit.

2011 - 2012

Releases of our first commercial add-ons. Expansion to the US and Germany to be closer to our customers.

2015 - 2016

We expanded Vaadin’s components to JavaScript developers and embraced Polymer as the platform for all our future components.

2019 - 2020

We embraced Lit as a modern templating language and enabled our users to build client-side views in TypeScript.

2021 - 2022

We enabled remote work with Collaboration Engine and maintain two separate full-stack frameworks for building business web apps.
